Garvey Awarded Top Spot at Gold Ink Awards 2012

Gold Ink 2012With almost 50 categories and nearly 1,500 entries from printing and graphic arts firms around the world, The Garvey Group received the top spot of Gold in the category of point-of-purchase displays.

Criteria for award-winning pieces included quality of printing, techincal difficulty and overall visual effectiveness.

The winning piece was a in-store POP display for the 2012 Spider-Man movie.

Garvey's POP piece was featured in Printing Impressions magazine, and displayed in a multimedia presentation at the Gold Ink & Hall of Fame banquet held during GRAPH EXPO 2012 in Chicago, IL.


Garvey Honored at Premier Print Awards 2012

Competing against thousands of entries from printing and graphic arts firms around the world, the Garvey Group received two Awards of Recognition for large-format printing.PPA

Each of the the top finalists in the categories of the competition are honored with an award. There were only 244 of these awards out of 2,800 entries, issued in this year’s competition.

Michael Makin, president and CEO of Printing Industries of America, agrees “Each year, the field of entries attracts impressive work from some of the best printers in the world. This year less than 9% received an Award of Recognition."

The winning pieces include a in-store retail cereal display for the Spider-Man movie and promotional packaging for Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie.

Printing Industries of America hosts the Premier Print Awards. In its 63rd year, the annual print competition recognizes those responsible for the creation and production of superior print. The event promotes excellence in print communications and rewards companies and individuals who produce the best in printed media.


Garvey Recognized at Graphics Excellence Awards 2012

With more than 1,000 entries from printing and graphic arts firms from Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana, the Garvey Group received 4 Awards of Excellence.GLGA

The winning pieces include a in-store retail DVD display, movie promotional packaging and a Chicago skyline promotional poster.

A panel of judges with extensive experience in printing and print production was brought in to examine the work. Each entry was judged on its own merit in a category with similar pieces.

The judging criteria included registration, crossovers, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, finishing, bindery and overall visual impact.
